A bit hit in Jamaica ‘Samfie Man’ was the Pioneers first recording for Leslie Kong. It was available on the now deleted Trojan CD The Pioneers – Let Your Yeah Be Yeah – Anthology 1966-86

Samfie Man — 2 Comments

  1. The spoken intro does not exist on the Jamaican copy of “Samfie man version”. In fact the intro is taken from a tune called ‘Ivan’ by Charley Ace on his own Scorpion label (where the intro is even slightly longer). In my opinion Lionel Young put these two together for one of the volumes of “Solid gold from the vault” on Trojan to make the tune ‘more exclusive’.
